Lieutenant General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar(retd), PVSM, AVSM, VSM is a retired General Officer in the Indian Army. She is the third woman in the Indian Armed Forces to be promoted to a Three-star rank, after Surgeon Vice Admiral Punita Arora and Air Marshal Padma Bandopadhyay. She last served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Medical) under the Chief of Defence Staff.

Kanitkar serves on the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC). On 6 July 2021, she was appointed the Vice-Chancellor of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik by the Governor of Maharashtra. She took over this appointment after retiring from the Army in October 2021.

Dr. Rajendra Bangal serves as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. With over 30 years of experience, he actively contributes to the field of health sciences through research, teaching, and leadership. His educational background includes an MBBS degree from SMS Medical College, Jaipur, and a Diploma in Radiodiagnosis from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. Dr. Bangal’s commitment to education and healthcare is commendable .

ABOUT MAHARASHTRA UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, NASHIK

The state Government of Maharashtra has established and incorporated an independent University of the health Sciences for the purposes of ensuring proper and systematic instruction, teaching, training and research in modern medicine and Indian system of medicine in the State of Maharashtra and to have balanced growth in the medical sciences so also in uniformity in various courses in medical faculty in the State, and to provide for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

It was with this objective the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences was established in Nashik city of Maharashtra State on 03rd June 1998 by promulgating the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act, 1998. Initially, the University was functional at Gangapur Road, Nashik. In 2004 University headquarters shifted to Mhasrul, Dindori Road, Nashik at its own building.
